A $100 million settlement has been reached in a long-running Ohio State sexual abuse case involving nearly 300 survivors.

For many athlete survivors, this is not just a resolved case. It is a reminder of how long harm can go unaddressed within systems meant to protect athletes.

These cases point to the same reality: abuse in sport is rarely just individual misconduct. It is enabled by environments where power goes unchecked and concerns are not acted on. Survivors have been speaking about this for years. The question is not only what happened, but how it was allowed to continue.
