Sunny Days at the Reutter Park distros. I'll admit I am not the best at remembering to take pics during the distros or remembering to post them. I usually am running around, packing up supplies for street crews, running the harm reduction table or checking in on the other stations and I hope that someone got a few pics.
These were all taken over the course of a few weeks. We're enjoying the last of the summer time as we prepare for the chilly fall and winter months to arrive. We do still do distros in the winter months, albeit depending on the weather they can be shorter amounts of time, relying predominantly on mobile outreach efforts or pop ups at indoor areas near places we tend to find folks needing lunch and supplies.
As we are approaching the cold weather we will be accepting donations of new or clean used blankets, winter coats, hats, gloves, handwarmers, hand sanitizer and more. Thanks for letting us do the thing and thanks for helping us out!

August is Overdose Awareness Month, with August 31st being Overdose Awareness Day. Outside of our office we have a memorial heart that was crafted a few years ago by a great friend and supporter of PWL, Ken..
These are just some of the people in our community and lives that we have lost, many due to overdose...
If you have a loved one that you have lost to overdose or a substance related death, and would like to add a photo or their name to our heart, please feel free to bring a picture, or share a picture with us if you don't have a physical copy of a photo, I'll do my best to get it printed out to hang here with my other friends.

Holy cow y'all! Thanks for responding to our call for help!! Yesterday I posted that the organization that provides us with most of our menstrual products that we then distribute to our participants, Helping Women Period, is running low on some of their supplies, predominantly tampons. Reasons being less in kind donations than usual, which means they have to purchase more, which takes both money and the time it takes for the supplies to be shipped.
So I asked for help. And help you did!
In ONE DAY Punks With Lunch Lansing received $365 via Venmo and PayPal to help with the purchase of menstrual products! Strange Matter Coffee, Michigan Ave location, made a post that people who brought them an unopened box/package of tampons or pads to donate would get a free drink from now until Aug 11th. Pictured here is the donations from day one! Capital Hippie in downtown Lansing also offered a promo, 20% off your purchase if you bring in menstrual products to donate.
AND I walked into my office today to find a large box next to my door, someone had ordered 20 boxes of assorted sizes of tampons and had it shipped to our space at the Fledge! A news reporter even reached out to Lysne and I to do a story about the shortage!
Lysne from HWP picked up the Strange Matter donation and brought it to me today, she said that they had also received some monetary donations that was sparked by our ask for help.
So thank you all for stepping up, it truly is awesome what you do, and we still are in need of menstrual products for our participants, especially tampons, we got a lot donated, but they go fast!

They provide menstrual products supplies to over 300 charities and schools across Michigan. The need they fulfill is great, and when they are thriving, we all are thriving. Thanks so much again!

Hey friends! So today I was placing a supply request for tampons from one of my FAVORITE local non profits that isn't my own, Helping Women Period, and I saw on the order form that they are running "extremely low" on tampons! 😮
HWP has been our main source of menstrual products, seriously since Day One of Punks With Lunch Lansing, the founder Lysne, whom I hadn't met at the time, showed up at our very first distro day with what seemed like a lifetime supply of period supplies, and they've been keeping us stocked ever since!
So here's my ask: PWL needs more tampons to distribute to our period having participants, most of whom are unhoused and/or lower income and they rely on us to get them through their moon time without having to use less hygienic options.
• Please help us out by donating TAMPONS to us, either by contacting us to find out the best drop off option, we have an office located inside the Fledge community center and we are there M-F noon until 5 but we can figure out other options if that doesn't work for you.

At this point we are low on tampons and would prefer a variety of sizes. So often only the Super Mega Deluxe sizes are donated, and even though yes, we all have those days, there are still a lot of days in which the Jumbo sizes just aren't what we need. We are ok on pads right now, except for pantiliners, But we are happy to receive any period supplies that will help us and HWP.
