After an incredible few days of auditions, we are thrilled to officially announce the cast of Evolve Theatrics' production of Annie!⁣⁣

The talent, enthusiasm, and heart we witnessed throughout the audition process made casting both exciting and incredibly difficult. We are truly grateful to everyone who shared their time and talents with us.⁣⁣

To our cast, congratulations! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect group of performers to bring this beloved classic to life. Each of you brings something unique to the production, and we cannot wait to watch this talented company come together over the next three months. Mengyue will be accompanying our prospective cast members throughout auditions for Evolve Theatrics' production of Annie, helping bring each audition to life.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music, Mengyue has performed numerous solo and chamber music recitals at prestigious venues including Kulas Hall, Mixon Hall, Harkness Chapel, and the Cleveland Museum of Art. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance at Michigan State University, where she studies under Steinway Artist and internationally acclaimed pianist Professor Stanislav Khristenko.⁣⁣

𝐓𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐍𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝, 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰:⁣⁣

Nessia Brooks is a Jamaican-American pianist, collaborative artist, and educator. A graduate of Michigan State University, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Performance Cognate in Classical Piano under the instruction of Dr. Young Hyun Cho, along with a minor in Cognitive Science. Nessia began her musical studies in Jamaica before continuing her training in the United States. She has performed internationally at the Orford International Music Academy in Québec, Canada, and the Centro Studi Carlo Della Giacoma in Todi, Italy. Recent solo engagements include guest recital performances for Huron Valley Arts and the Trinity United Methodist Church in Michigan. In addition to her classical training, she performed with the Michigan State University Jazz Orchestra III for three years, developing versatility across both classical and jazz styles.⁣
⁣
Passionate about music education, she maintains a private piano studio and serves as a piano instructor at Okemos Music Academy, where she teaches students of all ages. She is also a Music Perception and Cognitive Science Research Assistant at Michigan State University, exploring the intersection of music and cognition. Her achievements have been recognized through numerous scholarships, including the Marie S. Black Endowed Scholarship in Music, the Spencer and Eleanore Maurer Memorial Scholarship in Piano, and the Margaret Ballard Kraeer Scholarship in Piano.⁣
