F, I, and P. On their own, those letters don’t mean much. String them together though? That’s enough to bring us to our knees.

FIP. Feline Infectious Peritonitis. If it sounds scary, that’s because it is. Unfortunately one of our sweet kittens has been diagnosed with FIP and is currently fighting for his life. 🥺

Just 10 short days ago this tiny kitten, named Nick Carter after my middle school crush, was just like every other kitten. He was purring, playing, and dancing around happily like a good little Backstreet Boy. 🕺🏼

We were planning all kinds of fun adoption posts for Nick Carter. “Adopt Nick Carter! Because I want it that way” or “Nick Carter needs you tonight 😍!” Instead of these fun adoption posts that call all of us to remember the nostalgia of a beloved 90s boy band, Nick Carter is now desperately fighting to survive. 😭

Thankfully FIP no longer has to be a fatal diagnosis. 🙏 There is finally a treatment available and thanks to our vet & our friends at Chewy, meds are being expedited to us now. These meds were just shy of $500 and that’s with the free shipping and gracious discount our Chewy pharmacist gave us. ♥️

Nick will have to take these meds for the next 84 days. On top of those meds, he will need frequent repeat vet visits for bloodwork and wellness exams to ensure his body is responding to the medication.

This will be an expensive journey for this brave little kitten, but he has the best foster parents backing him and a will to survive that is unmatched. 💪🏼

This will unfortunately probably not be our last dance with FIP. We’re forever grateful that a treatment finally exists & Nick Carter has a chance. Any donation, even as small as $1 will help us ensure that we continue to have the emergency funds to support cats like Nick.
