Filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Reiner were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, according to a source close to the Reiner family.

The source said that the couple appeared to have died from stab wounds.

Los Angeles Police Department officials said Sunday that they had responded to a report of two deceased at Reiner's Brentwood home but did not identify them. LAPD said a homicide investigation is underway.

Paramedics were called to Reiner's home on the west side of L.A. around 3:30 p.m.. A few minutes later police officers were dispatched.
