To everyone who came out to Stone Soup last week, we love you. Despite the steamy weather, we’re so grateful for the opportunity to kick back, share a meal, and enjoy some live music with our friends and neighbors.

Thank you to Downtown Lansing for helping us coordinate all of the logistics needed to transform our block of Washington Square into a cozy gathering space. We were able to source the perfect amount of chairs for our table thanks to the Lansing Symphony Orchestra.

Stone Soup coincided with our first Live Music Thursday of the summer, so we have Ash Can Van Gogh to thank for providing the kind of atmosphere that gets people to have a seat and stay a while.

To our wonderful Washington Square neighbors, some much-deserved appreciation:

Weston's Kewpee Burger provided soup (and a serving set-up) so good it didn’t matter that it was so hot out.

Capital Hippie loaned us the table cloths that brought something whimsical to our setup

The Peanut Shop brought our neighborhood’s official snack mix for the tables (a big hit).

Sylvia’s Sudsery, LLC and Jollof Afrocaribbean Jollof Afro-Caribbean Lounge for sharing their evenings with us (and serving as the unofficial ambassadors of the 200 block).

And of course, thank you to everyone who came hungry and ready to help. Whether you came to share a meal with us, brought a dish to pass, or helped tidy up the street at the end of the night, this kind of event only works if the community around it is all in. With a summer full of Live Music Thursdays ahead of us, we hope to see you again soon!

Many thanks to Ash Can Van Gogh for helping us kick off our sixth summer of LIve Music Thursdays at Nelson! Despite the decidedly un-groovy weather, Ash Can Van Gogh was all smiles and awesome sound.

The good vibes continue next week (same time, same place) with local legend Ozay Moore.

Can’t wait to see you there!

Whether you’re drawn to the unique curves of this handcrafted vase, its rich green hue, or the fan-shaped leaves carved into its base, you can trust that like a ginkgo tree, its beauty is resilient.

Summer is finally here, and we’re beyond excited to announce the line-up for our sixth season of Live Music Thursdays at Nelson Gallery! Friends of the gallery Ash Can Van Gogh are kicking off the season for us, and we’re grateful to have their help setting the tone for our best summer yet.

Join us every Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30 PM for free outdoor performances (weather permitting). Wander over from one of the nearby restaurants with food and drink in hand (thank you Downtown Lansing social district), find your spot, and stay a while. It all starts June 11th, and we’re counting down the days. Put it on your calendar, and we’ll see you there!
