CIRCUIT PREACHER
The year is 2222. The Circuit Preacher leads The Last Church of the Final Days, an underground doomsday cult in the American South.
A State employee by day, the Preacher is secretly building a congregation. But there’s a problem. The current government forbids any unapproved meetings, and it’s getting more and more difficult to stay hidden. Technology is never perfect, though, and the Last Church has several congregants who know how to avoid detection. Undetected by the government, the church unites in worship. Circuit Preacher’s songs fill corridors, basements, and other hidden places with heavy electronic rhythms and haunting melodies.

THE RUSSIAN WHITE
Dark electronic / deathwave act The Russian White formed in June of 2011 and released their self-titled debut EP in 2015. In 2019, their sophomore effort, “The Haunted Beach”, made it abundantly clear The Russian White spent the interim expertly honing their craft. Reaching a coveted spot on the Bandcamp charts - the no. 2 best-selling goth album - the band was praised by fans and critics alike.
2023 saw the band embark on The Children of the New Dawn tour, spanning 30 dates across the U.S. with I YA TOYAH, Komrads, Solemn Shapes, Silver Walks, and SameStory. Upon return, the two piece signed to Distortion Productions. In October 2024, The Russian White released a new batch of menacing deathwave beats on via their full-length album “Funeral Art”.

SHADOWLAND is Lancaster’s monthly dark alternative dance ritual where Stygian and guest DJs from near and far dare you to shake off that boring human suit and unleash your inner monster. February marks our anniversary, and we can think of no better reason to get dressed up - welcome to the annual MONSTER BALL.

If you’re feeling fancy, formal, elevated, or are just looking for an excuse to wear that statement piece that doesn’t take up an inordinate amount of dance floor room, this is the month to do it! We all have our obligatory frilly ruffle-front vampire thaddy shirt living in the back of our closets - break that bad boy out, throw on some glitter, and call it a night! Or don’t - never an expectation, just an excuse for some added fun.

This month’s rite includes GUEST DJ Nightwitch (Compersion Philly - Philadelphia, PA) as our DJ co-summoner. Our dance familiars are powerhouse gogo duo NEBULA NOVA and LEGS AKIMBO , plus Tyler Ryan Studio on photos!

Genres range from darkwave, EBM, goth, and industrial to dark/alt pop, electro, phonk, post punk, synthwave, and so, so much more. The limit, as poet laureate Cady Heron said, does not exist.

Before we convene next week, we want to take a moment to talk about and thank our promotional artwork lord and savior, Dave Ghoul!!
Dave is one of Shadowland Lancaster’s OG promoters/DJs and a longtime graphic and digital mixed-media artist. All our art is a piece of Dave’s handiwork - he’s behind every flyer and the artwork on it, and he does it on his own each and every month, no AI.

In addition to his work as an artist, Dave Ghoul is a DJ and event producer from Philadelphia that specializes in alternative dance music such as Darkwave, EBM, Electro, Goth, Industrial, Post-Punk, Synth and more. He’s collaborated on hundreds of events from freaky to fe**sh and everything in between; he’s appeared as a DJ in hundreds more. In 2020, he began DJing on Twitch, which he continues to do. His current program is Ghost Frequency which takes place Saturday nights starting at 9PM (ET); he has a separate channel for streaming videogames, too!!

Dave’s picked a few pieces from 2007 he adapted for some of last year’s flyers AND his favorite original 2025 pieces to highlight. In lieu of being able to join us month in and out, our art is Dave’s way of staying connected to Shadowland while health and circumstance keep us apart.

On a personal note, Dave has been an incredible guide to me as I’ve navigated situations aspiring-DJ Stygian never would have imagined, be they technical, ethical, logistical, or personal. He’s been my cheerleader for probably longer than I’m ever going to understand and I want to take a moment to cheer for him, too. THANK YOU, DAVE GHOUL 🖤.
