This is exactly why the Garden Courtyard at Excelsior works so well. The arches pull your eye in. The greenery wraps around them. The space creates the drama without stealing the moment. Alyssa and Ed didn’t need to do anything extra here. They just stood where they were, together, and let the architecture do what it does best. This is what I want my couples to walk away with. Golden hour without ever leaving the building? Excelsior, you’re amazing.

Alyssa and Ed were in the middle of dinner when I noticed the sun dropping perfectly between the buildings. Normally, I’m sprinting outside to chase the light, but thanks to the Observation Deck, the sunset came to us.

One quick step outside, a beam of warm light, and a few seconds later, we had one of my favorite portraits of the day.

Beautiful light. Zero disruption to the day. 🙌
