Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the South, which took place on this day in 1865.
As we reflect on the progress we have made since then, we must not be complacent. Last year’s US Supreme Court’s decision in Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President and Fellows of Harvard College, et al., reminds us we have a long way to go to overcome prejudices and to advance diversity and equality in all aspects of society.

Today, let us all consider how we might contribute toward a better future, and strive to effectuate change.
