KalonCross
If you go to the Kalon Farms website, and see their history, you'll read that "kalon" in Greek means "beautiful." And the first ever Kalon Cross was indeed a beautiful event. The reason it was beautiful had to do with all the volunteers and participants that turned out to make it happen. We were blessed to have such a great venue, which I hope will become a New England Cyclocross classic.
A few special thanks. Thanks to Jerry DeZutter for taking the time to come out, help design the course, and help supervise smoothing out portions of it from previous events there. Thanks to Russ Campbell for helping to clear brush, design the course, and sorry about your poison ivy. Thanks to John Laupheimer for mowing such a wide course and fighting mosquitoes. If you liked the wide course, thank John. Thanks to Alan Atwood for running such a seamless registration process and making it all flow smoothly. Thanks to Mike Harris for being the Volunteer Coordinator, and making sure people were where they needed to be. And thanks to all the volunteers. And of course thanks to Kalon Farms for hosting us, especially Keith, Dawna, Sarah, and Sarah for working with us on race day. We had fun putting the race on, and hope you had fun coming out to watch or race.
Round 1 is done! Looking forward to seeing everyone at Round 2 at The Midnight Ride of Cyclocross on 9/22 at The Fairgrounds (the Mario Kart of New England Cyclocross).
