Swank Early Skills Development

Autism doesn’t stop a child’s journey; it simply changes the path. Every child moves forward in their own way, at their own pace, with strengths, challenges, and incredible potential along the way.
At Swank Early Skills Development, we believe in meeting children exactly where they are and supporting families with compassion, respect, and evidence-based care. While we do not diagnose, we are an ABA therapy provider serving children who have an autism diagnosis, helping build communication, social, and daily living skills that support meaningful growth.
If you have concerns about your child’s development, we encourage you to start by speaking with your child’s pediatrician or healthcare provider to discuss screening and next steps. We’re here to support your family.

Welcome back to Monday Milestones, our ongoing series focused on early communication development and what you may expect as your child grows.
By around 12 months of age, many children are beginning to:
• Use at least two consistent sounds or words to label parents, favorite people, or familiar items (for example, “mama” for mom or “baba” for bottle).
• Respond to simple words such as “no”.
• Show understanding through gestures, eye contact, and vocalizations.
These early communication skills help build the foundation for language, social interaction, and learning.
If your child is not yet demonstrating these behaviors, it may be a sign that additional support could be helpful. Early support can make a meaningful difference, and reaching out early is always encouraged.
At Swank Early Skills Development, we provide individualized, compassionate support to help children strengthen communication skills at their own pace while supporting families every step of the way.

Every child learns, develops, and progresses in their own unique way and at their own pace. Some days bring exciting breakthroughs, while others are about quiet practice, repetition, and building confidence one small step at a time.
At Swank Early Skills Development, we meet children exactly where they are. We focus on celebrating strengths, supporting challenges, and creating individualized pathways that help each child grow in ways that matter most to them.
If you ever feel your child may not be meeting expected developmental milestones, trust your instincts and talk with your child’s pediatrician. Early conversations can lead to early support — and early support makes a difference.
For families navigating an autism diagnosis, you are not alone. Swank Early Skills Development is here to help with compassionate, evidence-based support designed to build skills, confidence, and meaningful progress.
Progress is not about comparison. It’s about connection, consistency, and compassion — and growing together, one step at a time.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability that often presents with signs and challenges before the age of 3 and continues throughout a person’s lifetime. Autism affects how individuals communicate, interact socially, and experience the world around them — and no two individuals with autism are exactly alike.
Early signs may include differences in:
• Communication and language development.
• Social interaction or play.
• Sensory processing.
• Behavior or routines.
If you have concerns about your child’s development, the first step is to speak with your child’s pediatrician or healthcare provider, who can guide you through screening and diagnostic evaluations when appropriate.
Swank Early Skills Development is an ABA therapy provider that supports children with an autism diagnosis, offering individualized, evidence-based services to build communication, social, and daily living skills while supporting the whole family.
Early support can make a meaningful difference, and families do not have to navigate this journey alone.
We’re here to support you.
