As I see an influx of these photos, this is your yearly reminder that photographing on railroad tracks is illegal, dangerous, and shows a COMPLETE lack of concern for your clients’ safety. And don’t hit me with “it’s not an operating track”. First, you could be wrong, second - still 100% illegal. Be a good professional role model. Did you know over 500 people die on train tracks yearly in the US? Is it worth it? I get asked often to do it, and my response is always the same: “I will not photograph you on the tracks because I value your life (and freedom, as it’s punishable with jail time) too much for that. But I’m happy to photograph with the tracks in the background.”

Do better. Be better.
