Check and Connect at AR Rucker held a pizza party for the students involved in this program.

Led by David Taylor and Deasia Fisher, students were recognized for their academic work, increased attendance, and better behavior.

A huge thank you to David and Deasia for putting this altogether to recognize the hard work for the students.

Over the holidays our staff visited several students from our partner schools. Through a partnership with Second Baptist Church Lancaster, we were able to bless several students with a full backpack of goodies and needed items.

We were also able to help a family move into their new apartment with donated furniture, some clothes and gifts along with a Christmas meal for the family. We were thankful to help and continue our students in their growth.

Thank you Second Baptist Church Lancaster for the continued partnership and care for the community of Lancaster.

Our goal is the transformation of our most important citizens of Lancaster- our students.

Check and Connect works as a provider through Lancaster Promise Neighborhood to mentor the lives of students through academic, behavioral, and attendance growth. This week we saw a great victory in our mission.

One of our students, Jayla Gregory, has been asked to represent Lancaster High School as a leadership member for a summer program in our nation’s capital, Washington, DC.

This summer intensive is a huge honor for any student and Jayla exemplifies the spirit of what this program celebrates.

Jayla is a leadership member in the classroom. She is a strong poet. She is a gifted writer and student. She is also a bubbly personality that is a joy to work with.

Jayla, we at Lancaster County Check and Connect and the Lancaster Promise Neighborhood are so proud of your work!

Our LHS mentors went on a college tour with the students of the high schools today. As these stains met with representatives at Winthrop and York Tech, they also heard more about post graduate education.

One of the goals of the Check and Connect program is to encourage students to explore post graduate options like military, jobs, and education. We work everyday to see our students succeed in these goals.

We thank Coach Marcus Surratt and the staff of Lancaster High School Football for allowing us the honor of feeding the team and coaches tonight before the Camden game.

Our partnership with Lancaster High School has allowed us the opportunity to not only mentor students through academics and behavioral situations, but has also allowed us to partner with the sports program also.

It was an honor to not only serve this team but to also continue to partner with them to make the Bruin nation shine.
