As the month of April comes to a close, we remind you of the importance of understanding consent.
Consent is black and white. There is no gray area.
Understanding consent helps us create safer communities, healthier relationships, and a culture rooted in respect. Consent should always be clear, informed, freely given, and ongoing.
A person cannot give consent when they are:
• Under the influence
• Underage
• Unconscious
• Under pressure
• Unsure or unspoken
And remember:
- “No” is a full sentence.
- Silence is not consent.
- You can change your mind at any time.
This Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we encourage our community to continue learning, having conversations, and helping break the silence surrounding sexual violence. Prevention starts with awareness, accountability, and education.
