When you think of Morocco, you may think of colourful handcrafts, busy streets and delicious food. But did you know Morocco also boasts a spectacular coastline dotted with picturesque villages and beaches that are a travellers dream. Escape the busy souks (markets) of the city and chill by the coast in Taghazout, the perfect place to soak up the sun and ride the Atlantic Ocean waves. This sleepy fishing village is a surfers paradise with the ultimate chilled atmosphere, ideal for anyone on the search for a destination that has both beautiful beaches and adventure.

The popular village of Taghazout is located on the south west coast of Morocco, north of Agadir, one of the most visited cities in the south of the country. The village is set in the foothills of the High Atlas mountain range, connected to the Atlantic Ocean.

Taghazout is a popular place for surfers and offers a generous number of surfing spots, from Anchors point for the more advanced to Taghazout bay which is ideal for beginners.

The surf season runs from September till April with the most popular months for waves are November and December. If you’re not a surfer and just looking for some winter sun then you’ll find warm temperatures year-round, with temperatures averaging 78°F throughout the year and there is little rain due to it’s semi-arid climate. The best times to visit is from January to July and from September to December for the best weather.

For a unique experience, why not try catching the Northern Lights from Europe’s northernmost point, on a mountain plateau 307m above sea level?

This stunning location allows visitors the chance to do just that, but there’s also a lot more on offer at the North Cape. It’s prime bird-watching territory, with puffins, sea eagles, guillemots and much more all viewable on bird-watching day trips, or you could get active and join a snowmobile safari – one of the most thrilling ways to see the jaw-dropping surrounding landscape.
