Sometimes the dream you put on hold is the one you're meant to come back to.
For Peter Kress, that dream was cheese.
After helping launch Maine's first cheese factory decades ago, Peter stepped away from the industry, built a career in education, and eventually purchased an abandoned farm in New Hampshire with his wife, Katie. They initially raised cattle, but in 2020, they realized their future wasn't in farming livestock. It was in returning to Peter's lifelong passion for cheesemaking.
Today, **Swallow Ridge Farm** produces 14 handcrafted artisan cheeses using locally sourced raw milk, combining generations of craftsmanship with a commitment to supporting New Hampshire dairy farmers.
As they grew, Peter and Katie turned to SCORE for guidance on how to stand out in a competitive market while building a business that fit the life they wanted to live.
