Beyond Bodywork
Tight chest? Your pecs might be the reason your shoulders feel pulled forward and your upper back is constantly working overtime.
One technique we use a lot on the table is pin and stretch for the pecs. By applying pressure to the muscle and slowly opening the arm, it allows the tissue to lengthen and release in a way that static stretching alone usually can’t.
This kind of work can help with:
• Rounded shoulders
• Shoulder tension or impingement patterns
• Chest tightness from lifting or desk posture
• Upper back fatigue from overcompensating
Sometimes the problem in your back actually starts in the front of the body.
The QL (quadratus lumborum) is one of the most common muscles we treat for:
• Persistent low back tightness
• One-sided hip pain
• Pain when standing or walking for long periods
• Athletes who run, lift, or sit a lot
When this muscle gets overworked or locked up, it can create deep, stubborn discomfort that stretching alone won’t fix.
Targeted bodywork can help release it, restore movement, and get you feeling like yourself again.
Your body isn’t “tight”… it’s asking for the right kind of attention.
