Labor Day is a tribute to the contributions American workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. Some of the hardest workers we know are commercial fishermen. In the Gulf, our fishermen harvest hundreds of millions of pounds of the domestic seafood we eat in the U.S., and their industry contributes billions of dollars to our economy. We're into our 3rd week of Gulf Red Snapper season. The best way to make this season count for all of us is to report your trip info in the free mobile app, iAngler Gulf Red Snapper or log directly into the website www.angleraction.org.
Red snappers are a different kind of fish - they behave differently than most snappers and groupers in their spawning behaviors, growth rates, habitats used and more. The only way to help managers better understand the species -- and get the management plan right -- is for them to understand the fish and our interactions with them. And right now, logging in iAngler is the best way to do that.
If you already went, you can still log your trip! Just date the trip accordingly and enter accurate information.
So far, as you can see, most red snapper trips originate from the western third of the panhandle. But we've had trips out of Key West too - every fish logged helps lead us to a .

One week of Florida's Gulf Red Snapper season is in the books. Of the trips reported so far in iAngler, most are coming from the western panhandle. 20% of all reported trips came from Okaloosa County! Trips were reported all the way down to Key West. Have you logged your trip yet?
