Let kids be kids.

When we’re out at a restaurant, and our antsy child accidentally knocks a drink over, spilling it all over his sister, who screams.⁣
⁣
𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘴.⁣
⁣
When we're at the grocery store, and one of our children throws herself on the floor because we said no to powdered donuts at 9 am.⁣
⁣
𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘴.⁣
⁣
When we're at the pool, and they’re splashing, and you get wet, or a ball they’re playing with hits you in the head.⁣
⁣
𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘴.⁣
⁣
Kids aren’t meant to be quiet,⁣
still,⁣
and neat.⁣
⁣
And these messy blessings are part of our society too.⁣
⁣
As parents, we do our best to make them respectful, kind humans. ⁣
But they aren’t perfect,⁣
and they’re still learning.⁣
⁣
They’re going to scream, “I got you!" and in response, "No!” outside when they’re playing tag. ⁣
⁣
They’ll laugh wildly at dinner, sometimes too loud.⁣
⁣
And honestly, they should.⁣
⁣
THEY NEED TO BE CHILDREN.⁣
⁣
They’re the future and bring so much sunshine and purpose to this hard and often unfair world.⁣
⁣
So let kids be themselves.⁣
⁣
Let kids be kids.
