Ever wondered why Gar-Field High School is hyphenated? Now you know. 🙂

The old "New" Gar-Field. Gar-Field. GAR for the Garbers. FIELD for the Manderfields. The Garber home across from Kaiser on Minnieville Road is gone now. But you can still see the Mandefield's house as you come across the Occoquan Bridge heading South, the first house closest to the bridge on the river. Both families donated land for the new Gar-Field High School and Dumfries students then just went up the road a few miles and no longer to Occoquan High School.
