It is true that valleys are daunting,
shrouded in shadow,
provoking in appearance with sharp turns and edges—
a deep contrast to their neighboring peaks.

But no greater delight can be felt
than the rising light that touches a valley,
rays bouncing off the hidden angles,
revealing life and play within its shade.

For the one who braves it
finds streams of living water deep within,
watering blossoming foliage
of beauty and color.

There is blessing in the valley,
for the mountaintops lack luster without it.
