Deloris Cofield, received recognition for being one of our Top 5 Unsung Heroes of the 25-26 school year. The Unsung Hero award recognizes staff who have positively influenced their school or department from behind the scenes with a positive attitude, a willingness to help in whatever capacity necessary, and a commitment to excellence. This award is for our classified staff, honoring their often-unseen hard work and achievements within our school community.
Here’s what The HOPE Academy principal, Dr. Stephanie Winn-Chappell, had to say about Deloris: Mrs. Cofield is a truly exceptional educator whose impact extends far beyond the classroom. As a high school Edgenuity teacher, she demonstrates an unwavering passion for student success, providing academic support across a wide range of subjects to ensure that all students have the opportunity to thrive.
What makes Mrs. Cofield especially remarkable is her ability to connect with students on a personal level. She engages them in authentic, meaningful conversations that help guide them back on track when they face challenges. By sharing wisdom from her own life experiences, she builds trust and credibility, which deeply resonates with our alternative school population and fosters a sense of belonging and motivation.
In addition to her instructional support, Mrs. Cofield enriches the school environment through her many talents. She generously shares her skills in cooking and baking by preparing meals and treats for students and incorporating these experiences into valuable life lessons. She has created a tradition of providing a full Thanksgiving dinner to all students, faculty, and staff. Her creativity also shines through her sewing and embroidery, reflecting her dedication to craftsmanship and care. Which she often shares with students.
Mrs. Cofield’s positive influence on our school is immeasurable. She not only supports students academically but also nurtures their personal growth, confidence, and life skills. Her compassion, creativity, and commitment make her an invaluable asset to our school community. This is why Mrs. Cofield is The HOPE Academy's unsung hero. We love and appreciate you.
