September 24, from 6:00 - 7:00 P.M. in the New Life Building
For parent of all age kids and students

Georgia Baptist Mission Board Next-Gen Leader Chris Trent will share with us: “Staying Connected in an Overly Connected World”

In a world where devices promise endless access, families often discover that constant digital connection doesn’t equal authentic relational connection. Our kids face unprecedented levels of loneliness, comparison, and distraction, and parents often feel powerless to push back. This parent talk will remind us why connection matters—biblically, relationally, and practically—and will offer fresh ways to foster trust, conversation, and spiritual growth at home. Together we’ll explore what interrupts connection, how to set meaningful traditions, and how to pray boldly for the next generation. You’ll leave with tools to help your family thrive in an overly connected world without losing what matters most.

To all of our First Baptist Church on the Square family and everyone else who have followed the saga over the last 48ish hours of our student ministry mission trip I’d like to offer up this last update.

To make a long story short American Airlines failed us. Between mechanical issues, postponed flights, and outright lies we were going to have one more shot getting out of Atlanta today. But alas, it was delayed again. So after spending hours trying every different idea or plan we could, I made the difficult decision to call it off for now. We all arrived back in LaGrange last night at midnight (with half our group without luggage that somehow was put on another flight to Miami). Over 36 hours with no sleep ended in disappointment, frustration, and tears.

That was last night. This is today. We woke up to sunshine and the celebration of Easter at home with friends and family. We were able to worship with our church family. I’ll admit, I was singing through tears the whole time. Because as much as I love our students and families it can’t even compare to the love our Savior has for us. I was hurting because of the situation we had just experienced, but also at peace knowing that, as Veggie Tales puts it, God’s still bigger than the boogeyman. But that’s SO true. God is so much bigger than a cancelled mission trip. And through that experience every single one of us on that team learned something or experienced something that God had prepared for us long before we were even on this Earth. Maybe He was protecting us from something. Maybe He was telling us we weren’t ready. Whatever it is we can rest knowing that He has a perfect will and plan.

So now just pray with us. Pray that we can discern what our next steps are. Try for a later date? Change the destination? Who knows? Only God. He is in control and He is risen!

Happy Easter my friends! I love you guys!
