I think many of us in the family of faith have inaccurate perceptions about theology such as: it’s only for seminary professors, pastors, or Christian brainiacs who like reading big books written by dead people or who want to impress their small group with fancy words like exegesis and eschatology.

But here’s the deal, y’all – theology comes from two Greek root words, “theos” which refers to God, and “logos” which refers to words or phrases, so at its core, theology simply means “conversations about God.” Which means everybody’s a theologian at some level because everybody has ideas, questions, suppositions, and conversations about God.

So whenever you wonder about who our Creator Redeemer is, communicate with Him in prayer, or encourage a friend with some cool truth you discovered in Scripture, you’re practicing theology. And when that theology is rooted in the divine love story we call the Bible, it’s not just about academic learning, it’s about abundant living. Because God is not a proposition to study, He’s a triune personhood with whom we get to experience a real relationship with!

This summer, we’re diving deeply into biblically informed theology, leaning further into an intimate relationship with Jesus, and sharing some belly laughs along the way through a brand-new Bible study called, A Jesus-Shaped Life. It’s going to be hosted by my dear friends at FaithGateway, which means not only is this online Bible study completely free, but it’ll take place in an authentic (no-shoes or Spanx required) community of other image-bearers. Some of whom you’ll probably end up claiming as real friends.

Register today and receive a FREE resource kit to help you get started. I hope you’ll join us.
