Floodplain Fruits

The pawpaws are starting to flower although it will still be a bit longer till full bloom and sweet smell of rotting meat fills the air. Hurray to fruit trees pollinated by by flies and beetles!

In Northwest Indiana the apricot trees are starting their bloom! It's still over a month till the 90th percentile frost free date, but the 10 day forecast looks good, so keeping fingers crossed for a good apricot crop this year.

Hundreds of pawpaw seedlings are being grown to form what will eventually be a half acre pawpaw patch.
