Lafayette Police Department

On Saturday, June 6, 2026, members of the Lamorinda Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) participated in a mock Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) exercise hosted by Lafayette Police Emergency Services. The hands-on training gave CERT volunteers the opportunity to practice critical disaster response skills, including search, triage, rescue, and communications techniques that may be needed following a major earthquake or other large-scale emergencies.
In a major disaster, professional responders may be overwhelmed, making trained community volunteers an essential part of the response. Exercises like this help strengthen our community's ability to work together, save lives, and support recovery efforts when disaster strikes.
This collaborative training was developed by Lafayette Police, Moraga-Orinda Fire District, and Lamorinda CERT, with valuable support from Cushman & Wakefield, who provided the training site, and the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff.
