Since announcing the upcoming closure of Le Grenadier, many of you have reached out to share your own experiences trying to run a business in downtown Lafayette. I want to thank you for that. I don’t regret telling my story—because it’s clear I’m not alone. If we want downtown to truly thrive, we need to start addressing the real challenges that are pushing small businesses out.

Even after upholding my part of a formal agreement to exit the lease by May 15th—including making all required payments—I continue to face harassment from my landlord. Despite the eviction case being dismissed, the intimidation hasn’t stopped.

After my announcement, the City inspected the building and documented over 15 serious code violations—ranging from roof damage to collapsing ceilings and failing electrical systems. These weren’t cosmetic problems. They were major safety concerns that should have been addressed long ago.

Rehabilitation is more than a buzzword—it means making spaces safe, functional, and supportive of business success. Without real action and accountability, downtown will remain a difficult and risky place for small businesses to grow.

That’s why this upcoming Festival International means so much. It will be one of our final weekends in the space—and your support during this time will help make my transition into a safer, more stable space possible. Stop by, raise a glass, and help us close this chapter on a high note.

This downtown Lafayette bar is closing. The owner cited deteriorating building. The bar will shut down May 10, and the owner cited ongoing disputes with the landlord of the building as the reason.

This will be the last shindig at Le Grenadier before our big move. Don’t miss out on Marco and the moonlights. For the people who love Sinatra night, this is doubling down!
