1 year ago the Lafayette Fire Department lost a brother. John G. Robinson died while on duty and will forever be missed. His laugh is missed around the fire house and kitchen table. May his family know that we will always be there for them whenever needed and that we will never forget!

John William Mitchell died on April 10th, 1914, at the Dryfus Theater Fire. Mitchell was working on the Alpha side of the building when a piece of the cornice fell off of the building while he was trying to secure a hoseline, trapping him underneath. He later passed at the hospital, becoming Lafayette Fire Departments first Line of Duty Death.
Yesterday we cleaned the gravestone and vow to never forget.
We continue to honor and remember every area LODD! RFB

Last weekend we had our annual F.O.O.L.S. Ball! Thank you so much to everyone who came out! Also thank you to the for hosting us again this year! A great night of fellowship, brotherhood and family. Family is what the fire service is about and I think the photos speak for themselves!

8 years ago Lafayette Fire Department lost a brother, John Butler, to occupational cancer and is recognized as an LODD. Digbytown F.O.O.L.S. continues to honor area LODDs by cleaning their gravestones and remembering their sacrifice. Cancer is a very real thing, especially among firefighters and we all except that risk to do this job. Special thanks to Lafayette Squad 2 for coming out!
