Missed our Managing Holiday Anxiety event this morning? No problem! We’ll give you a quick rundown of the main ways to manage your anxiety this holiday season.

1. Boundaries
Figure out what you have the capacity for BEFORE others have the chance to impose their wants/needs upon you. We tend to disregard our boundaries during this time of year for the sake of pleasing others, even when we’ve already reached our capacity. Figuring out what your capacity is- and what boundaries you need to implement, will help you better navigate this holiday season without stretching yourself thin.

2. Lean into your core values
Do you prioritize connection and familial relationship? Or do you prioritize travel and alone time? Figuring out what you value can help you decide where you want to put your energy during this time of year.

3. Understand what the holidays mean for YOU, not others
Maybe your idea of the perfect holiday involve staying at home in your pj’s with a big pot of gumbo on the stove and a movie on the TV. Maybe it involves sitting at a dining table surrounded by your friends and family and catching up on each other’s lives. Gaining an understanding of what your ideal holiday looks like can be the difference between a calm and joyous holiday season, and a holiday season filled with dread.

We hope these tips can help alleviate some of the holiday induced anxiety you may have been feeling, and we’ll see y’all at our next event!

Happy Monday y’all!

2023 is winding down but we still have a few events left before it comes to a close. Next Saturday, November 11, Natalie will be leading a community conversation on managing boundaries and expectations during the holiday season. In December we will have not one, but two, yoga sessions occurring that will be led by Amanda Fuselier.

All of these events are free and open to everyone! If you’re interested please use the link in our bio to sign up for these events. While registration is not required, it is encouraged.

I hope to see y’all at some (or all!) of these events. Happy Halloween Eve 🕷️

This morning’s community event with Dr. Arial Moore was such a success!! We discussed non-negotiables, red flags, and how our upbringings can impact the way we navigate relationships.

Thank you so much to Dr. Arial Moore for taking the time to share your wealth of knowledge with our community; and thank you to our wonderful community for your continuous support! Stay tuned for more information about our upcoming community events.

Enjoy your Halloween weekend and stay safe!

The holidays are approaching and we’re so excited!!! However, we’re also stressed, overwhelmed, and overall feeling a bit anxious about this holiday season. Why? Well, while this time of year can be magical and an overall delight, it can also be a time of intense stress as we deal with everything we’ve been avoiding throughout the year.

One thing we all tend to avoid are the underlying tensions with our families that we’ve let simmer all year long. Now we’re left dreading the Thanksgiving table where we’re going to have to sit next to our uncle that only wants to talk about politics, our sister that we haven’t spoken to in months, and our grandma that wants to know when we’re going to “settle down”.

Navigating these uncomfortable conversations while keeping the peace can be difficult, especially when we’re caught off guard.

This conversation, led by our founder, Natalie Bunner, will help you delve into setting boundaries and managing expectations so that this holiday season can remain the magical time of year we all know it to be.

Join us on Saturday, November 11 at 10am as we discuss managing holiday anxiety. Hope to see y’all there!!

Meet Lauren, our newest intern!

Lauren is a New Orleans native currently enrolled in Louisiana State University’s social work graduate program. She’s also a loving mom to two doggos (Alice & Ozzy), and she's recently become a fiancé (congratulations are in order)!! Her journey with Thrive Therapy will begin in August and last until next May.

As mentioned, Lauren is currently enrolled in a social work program at LSU, however, her helping journey did not begin there. Lauren received her bachelor's of science in Psychology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in May of 2021. While enrolled she was part of a lab run by Dr. Amy Brown that focused on the social perceptions of sexual violence, and the impact of bystander intervention against sexual violence.

Lauren has also completed two other internships. Her first internship was at Vermilion Behavioral Health where she completed psychosocial assessments, facilitated small groups, and worked with patients to create crisis plans. She's currently in the process of finishing an internship with Acadiana Treatment Center, a residential psychiatric facility for adolescents. At this facility she maintains a client caseload by conducting individual sessions and small groups.

Lauren currently works at Safe Havynn as an educator and outreach specialist. Her position allows her to educate teens and young adults on valuable life skills such as planning for your future and creating solid foundations for relationships and sexual health.

We are so excited to have Lauren join our team, and so thankful for all the knowledge and experience she will bring to our practice. We’ll provide more information regarding Lauren’s upcoming small groups and client availability in the next few days. Thanks y’all!
