As a health and wellness brand, we believe confidence, care, and community go hand in hand. This Women’s History Month, we are celebrating women who are doing the work, setting the standard, and transforming the culture of wellness in our communities. All month long, we will honor women in the health and wellness industry who are building with purpose and creating meaningful, lasting impact.
Today, we proudly recognize Sonya Isouras Antoine, LPC, NCC, a respected mental health professional, educator, author, and advocate whose work continues to uplift individuals and families through healing, empowerment, and self discovery.
Sonya is the Owner and Chief Executive Officer of Positively Affirmed Therapeutic Services in Lafayette, Louisiana, where she provides therapeutic, educational, and wellness centered mental health services to individuals across the lifespan. A Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor, she brings more than a decade of experience in the mental and behavioral health field, helping people navigate life’s challenges while strengthening their emotional well being.
Her professional journey reflects both depth and dedication. Sonya holds numerous specialized certifications including Certified Life Coach, Certified Youth Mental Health Specialist, Certified Grief Informed Professional, Certified Transformational Coach, Certified Mindfulness and Meditation Coach, Certified Target Health Youth Facilitator, and TBRI Practitioner. Each credential strengthens her ability to support individuals through evidence based approaches that prioritize resilience, emotional regulation, and personal growth.
Before fully transitioning into the mental health field, Sonya spent time in corporate America. In 2013, she followed her calling to serve others more directly, beginning a powerful journey as a counselor, MST therapist, educator, and mental health advocate. Since then, she has worked extensively with youth, college students, college student athletes, women, and the geriatric population, providing support through individual counseling, wellness initiatives, group sessions, and educational programming.
Sonya is especially passionate about supporting youth and young adults as they navigate academic pressures, performance expectations, identity development, and major life transitions. She also works closely with women and older adults, creating spaces where individuals can process experiences, build healthy coping skills, strengthen connections, and improve their overall quality of life.
Her impact extends beyond counseling sessions. Sonya is an Adjunct Professor and Faculty Member at South Louisiana Community College, where she helps educate and inspire the next generation of professionals. She is also the author of the ten week positive affirmation journal 1 AM… Define Who You Are and a co author of The RESET Journey From Surviving to Thriving anthology. Through her writing, she encourages individuals to reclaim their identity, rewrite limiting narratives, and step confidently into their purpose.
Sonya’s work is grounded in empowerment, resilience, and self definition. Her signature message, “I AM. Define who you are,” serves as a powerful reminder that identity and healing begin from within. Through speaking engagements, therapeutic services, youth mental health summits, group sessions, and community wellness events, she equips individuals with practical tools, psychoeducation, and mindfulness based strategies that support long term healing and growth.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sonya is a proud mother of three children ages twenty six, nineteen, and thirteen. She deeply values time with her family and prioritizes self care in her own life. She enjoys relaxing, getting massages, and sipping honey peach tea from CC’s, embracing the same balance and wellness she encourages others to pursue.
This Women’s History Month, we honor Sonya Isouras Antoine for her unwavering commitment to mental health, personal empowerment, and helping individuals discover the strength within themselves to heal, grow, and thrive.
