I bet you never knew THIS happened in Kyle, TX, 114 years ago.

On Saturday, at my final State of the City address, I told the story of Cal Rodgers and the Vin Fiz Flyer in Kyle, TX. This story was researched using multiple sources, including the book "Iron Aviator," by Christopher Wehner and "Kyle: The Prairie City," by Ann Strom. I also found dozens of old newspaper articles in the archives that mentioned the crash landing from all over America, and conducted interviews with residents who had records and oral histories to share.

The images I used of Kyle at the turn of the century were sourced from a variety of places including the Kyle Public Library, Portals to Texas History, the Hays County Historical Commission, The Hays Free Press, and more.
