As I went to write a thank you to this wonderful community for allowing me the opportunity to continue as a Trustee I started reflecting on my lifelong career here in Klein ISD.

As a drill team instructor for 15 years, I had a great opportunity to work with kids who loved to dance and entertain an audience as much as I did. The parents were amazing – and I still remember drawing my ideas and props on a napkin and watching my dance dads give it life! My moms would design and redesign what we had in closet to make new and exciting costumes. Watching my former students, now involved as dance directors or parents of students who now have kids of their own dancing is heartwarming.

l appreciate all the support from everyone (faculty, staff, kids and parents) that has been given to Chance through the years. All his ups and downs as he grew from a special needs child to an outstanding adult with special needs, has been part of his history. I honestly believe he is loved by all. His career of now 18 years in food service at KO, warms my heart. To all those who read this and reflect a particular moment where Chance made you laugh or smile – a special thanks!

As an administrator, I grew as an educator and learned that kids needed to be involved in organizations and clubs in order to develop the whole person. The ninth-grade wing was the highlight of my administrative career, where we were a family working for all kids to promote productive citizens. We worked through the tough times and gave students an understanding that losing sometimes was better than winning. Life as we know it – isn’t always perfect and we all must experience life lessons in order to grow.

My first year on the Board – I had the opportunity to learn about the entire district and meet people that I respected in our community that I didn't know before. Because of our love of this district and kids, we have grown not only to know each other but they have become friends. Building relationships for the purpose of community and students has made us strong.

As a Board member – I strive to do everything to promote “Promise 2 Purpose” as a reality for all students. I came to Klein Oak in 1987 and promised to stay for at least 5 years. YIKES – I know have been here for almost 40! I am so excited to see the next generation of this great place and so honored to continue to be part of it.
