Lunch & Learn at Dibble: Shaping the Future of Structural Engineering with AI & Technology!

Today’s Lunch & Learn session, proudly organized by the AI & Tech Committee at Dibble, brought our team together to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming the way we design and build.

A special thank you to Genia Design for showcasing their cutting-edge software and giving us a glimpse into the future of structural engineering powered by AI (Thank you Zhihao Zhao Robin Lin). From automating design processes to enhancing collaboration and optimizing structures, it’s exciting to see what’s possible.

We also dove into how Python can serve as a powerful tool for streamlining hand calculations and improving efficiency in our daily workflows. These insights are helping us bridge the gap between traditional engineering methods and modern technological solutions.

At Dibble, we’re committed to continuous learning and empowering our team with the latest knowledge to stay ahead in the industry.

🚧 We’re excited to see steel going up at the Little Creek Casino Resort – Administration Expansion in Shelton, WA! This five-story, 24,500-square-foot addition will support the Squaxin Island Tribe with new administrative offices, conference rooms, and security space — all designed with respect for the cultural significance of the site.

🏗️ The structure sits on 110-foot-deep, 24” diameter augercast piles with a structural slab-on-grade and steel framing throughout. We’re using Simpson Strong-Tie Yield-Link braced frame connections 🔩 — eliminating field welding and helping the frame go up fast. One unique feature of the building is an elevator designed to remain operational during a fire 🔥 — a complex but critical element.
