JULY 2026 NIGHT SKY EVENTS
Get ready for an incredible month of mid-summer stargazing with the Mayborn Science Theater! From stunning planetary pairings to the peak of a classic meteor shower, the July 2026 night sky is packed with celestial wonders.
Mark your calendars for these prominent astronomical highlights:
July 4 - Mars and Uranus Conjunction: Look toward the eastern predawn horizon. Brilliant Mars acts as your guidepost to help you spot the elusive, greenish glow of Uranus with binoculars.
July 8–9 - Venus and Regulus: Watch the western evening sky after sunset as brilliant Venus glides gracefully past Regulus, the brightest star in the constellation Leo.
July 14 - New Moon: With the sky completely free of moonlight, tonight offers prime, dark-sky conditions for viewing and photographing the grand arc of the Milky Way.
July 16–17 - Crescent Moon and Venus: Catch a beautiful, slender lunar crescent pairing closely with dazzling Venus in the western sky just after sunset.
July 28–29 - Delta Aquariid Meteor Shower Peak: Escape the city lights after midnight to catch shooting stars streaking across the dark sky during this steady annual shower.
July 29 - Full Buck Moon: The final lunar event of the month features a brilliant full moon rising in the southeast, dominating the summer night with its bright glow.
Which cosmic event are you most excited to see this month?
Clear skies, Central Texas! Keep looking up.
