Now for a little Friday fish tale... 🐠

Have you seen our lobby aquarium lately? We were having some challenges recently without expert knowledge about how to care for the fish and coral in our tank.

Enter Dr. Charlie Gregory! An expert aquarist, aquatic veterinarian, and Marine Science professor at the College of the Florida Keys, Dr. Gregory was having lunch in our cafeteria and asked if he could help! He has recruited Marine Science students to help develop it into a one-of-a-kind educational display, giving students hands-on experience.

Lauryn Robinson, a third-year Marine Resource Management student, lab assistant for Marine Data Collection and the president of the Aquaculture Society, with a high level of competency in caring for living coral, has helped evolve the aquarium into a full-fledged reef system.

The aquarium highlights all local fish and fish that have been aquacultured in the CFK lab. Stay tuned for more on one of our newest and largest fish, the beautiful queen angelfish, representative of the LKMC logo and a crown jewel of our local reefs!
