It’s pretty sporty out there today. Sand Key off Key West has gusts to 27 knots… Molasses Reef - same.
Will this be the last of the cold fronts for the Florida Keys and Key West fishing this spring?
We are looking forward to seeing how this stirs up the bite offshore for Key West hoping the backcountry and reef fishing don't get effected.

It is typical this time of the year to have a train of High pressure systems maintain a grip on the Eastern Seaboard and offer the Key West area a nice Easterly to SouthEasterly flow 🌬💨 or blow. Making things sporty offshore. This is a battle Royale between our Winter and Summer patterns and quite normal.
For at least the next week winds will be in the 20s on the regular. Looking at the LRF it may be longer 😔.. Let's just hope Mother Nature gets it out of her system before the South Atlantic grouper season opens up May 1.

Room rates are way down in Key West, there are some great deals for folks wanting to visit. We have seen resort prices less than 290.00 a night next week. There is also some availability with fishing guides as well. Never hurts to call.

Backcountry and flats fishing are a great option.. The tarpon are chewing and there are many other species to play with out back.. The water is clear and very fish-able. The tarpon are starting to migrate albeit early we are seeing some patterns indicating this. Fly fishing is a bit tough in the wind. My crew here at Dream Catcher Charters has been doing pretty well on tarpon using live bait and spin in spite of the winds.

We are also able to get to some snapper action as well in the channels and closer reefs without beating anyone up.

Deep sea fishing if you can brave it -- will have stories of mahi, sailfish and possible tunas with a mix of wahoo.
Maybe the brave ones can reply in the posts with a fishing report from offshore... 💪👍
