Today is a reminder that before we are Democrats or Republicans, we are Americans. 🇺🇸

On this Independence Day, we honor not just the birth of our nation, but the extraordinary act of unity that made it possible. The Declaration of Independence was a masterpiece of collaboration and compromise—written by individuals with differing views, backgrounds, and beliefs, who came together around shared ideals: liberty, equality, and the right to self-determination.

That spirit still matters today.

We may not agree on everything—but we are united by our hopes for a better future, our belief in the promise of democracy, and our responsibility to one another.

Let’s carry forward the founding spirit—not just of independence, but of unity. Our challenges are great, but together, there’s nothing we can’t achieve.

En este Día de la Independencia, no solo celebramos el nacimiento de nuestra nación, sino también ese acto tan grande de unidad que lo hizo posible. No matter the purpose of the mission, or its success, the solemn decision to engage in war must always reside with the deliberative body of Congress, reflecting the will of the nation.

Today, we commemorate Juneteenth. It stands as a stark reminder of our nation's enduring struggle for true equality and justice. June 19th, 1865, marks the day when the enslaved people of Galveston, Texas, finally received the long-overdue news of their freedom. This pivotal moment arrived a full two and a half years after President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation. Let us not forget the profound significance of this day, nor the protracted journey toward fulfilling the promise of liberty for all within our nation. This Juneteenth, we reflect on the continued work that lies ahead to ensure justice and freedom are a reality for every American citizen.

Look, on Iran, this is a complex situation. But frankly, it's outrageous the President thinks he can just launch wars on his own. Congress needs to grow a backbone and reassert its constitutional duty!

Miami's No Kings Rally on Saturday saw an impressive display of civic engagement. Under the Florida sun, a large and passionate group of people gathered to exercise their First Amendment right to peaceably assemble in defense of democracy. I was honored to be among them.

Join me tomorrow for the No Kings Rally in Miami. As we exercise our First Amendment rights, let us remember the powerful words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: "Nonviolence is a powerful and just weapon, which cuts without wounding and ennobles the man who wields it. It is a sword that heals."

I urge everyone participating to do so in a peaceful manner. Please allow law enforcement to carry out their duties without any engagement or interference. Furthermore, let's ensure that outside agitators do not succeed in creating a spectacle.
