You don’t just talk in Alaska… you casually mention places that require a plane, a boat, or a snowmachine to reach. 🏔️✈️😂

Outsiders ask where you're headed… and instead of saying a street name, you say, “Going out to the bush for a few days.” 😎

A few days.

No cell service.
No roads.
Possibly a bear as your nearest neighbor. 😭

“It's only an hour away” is one of Alaska’s biggest lies.

Because that hour might include gravel roads, construction delays, a moose standing in traffic, and weather that suddenly decided your plans were optional. 🚗🫎💀

And speaking of weather…

If somebody says, “It's warming up,” that could mean it reached 35°F and people are suddenly wearing shorts. ☀️😂

In Alaska, seasons aren't spring, summer, fall, and winter.

They're winter, still winter, breakup season, mosquito season, and winter again. ❄️🦟😭

The weather can change faster than your plans.

Sunny skies at breakfast.
Rain by lunch.
Snow in the mountains by dinner.
Northern Lights by midnight. 🌧️☀️❄️✨

And if somebody says they're “going to town,” that might not be a quick errand.

That could be a full-day supply mission involving Costco, fuel, groceries, and enough planning to survive a small apocalypse. 🛒⛽😂

Also: “The traffic isn't bad.”

Translation?

There are only three RVs, two tourists, and one moose blocking the highway today. 🫎🚙

And if someone says, “The mountain is out,” everyone immediately knows exactly what that means.

Because when Denali finally appears without clouds, half the state stops what they're doing to admire it. 🏔️❤️
