Kent State University Police is installing Flock cameras across campus, a move it said is aimed at improving safety and assisting in criminal investigations.
According to Sgt. Vance Voyles, the cameras are designed to capture license plate information to help officers identify vehicles connected to crimes.
“The data that we’re going to use with those is completely for campus safety and security criminal investigations,” Voyles said.

On a cold Tuesday morning outside the Student Center, a familiar face returned to Kent State University campus. It wasn’t a famous alumnus or former athlete, but instead, it was a man who was daring students to think outside of the accepted norms their professors are teaching them.
Peter “the moon guy” Jarvio is an avid moon-landing and flat-earth conspiracy theorist who has been a fixture on campus for the last few years. Featured with his patented whiteboard chock full of theories on how the moon landing was faked and the earth really is flat, Jarvio was looking to speak to anybody who walked past him.

As Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker pulled up for a buzzer-beating three-pointer on Oct. 27 2025, to cover the point spread against the Utah Jazz, one anonymous 20-year-old Kent State marketing major was frozen and shaking in fear.
The sophomore had just lost $1,800 in a grueling 24-hour stretch, totaling over $4,000 dollars lost in just under two years of sports gambling. Chasing his losses, the student made the decision to put $900 on a three-leg parlay concluding with the Jazz winning by 1.5 points.
“After I had lost all this money in one single day, I was sitting on the floor distraught at three in the morning and told myself ‘I’m done gambling forever,”’ the anonymous student said. “And then the next morning, I woke up and decided to go back in for more.”
