Earlier this week, Dark Rifles represented the during Governor Ferguson’s State of the State address. In the speech, highlighted the rapid and professional response by the Dark Rifles amid recent flooding across Washington. What an incredible acknowledgement of the sacrifices made by our Soldiers! Always Ready, Always There!

Dark Rifles welcomed Governor Bob Ferguson and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to the Kent Armory today for a press conference to provide updates to Washingtonians on flood conditions. Dark Rifles have been involved in this response from the beginning and will continue their presence through the holidays as needed. Duties include monitoring levees, providing response teams to assist the Department of Transportation if evacuations become necessary, and a crew for sandbag filling and emplacement. Dark Rifles remain Always Ready, Always There!

While the mission is far from over, the Dark Rifle Task Force took a quick break to host at the Skagit Regional Airport. During the visit, the Task Force Commander was able to conduct an aerial reconnaissance of the current damage caused by massive flooding. Several Soldiers were recognized for their outstanding efforts and the local VFW and Legion were on site serving food to Soldiers. While the loss of property and damage to infrastructure countinues to be understood, the Dark Rifles stand ready for the next round of rain and ensuring that Washingtonians remain safe!
