SUPER SUCCESS STORY

Our first sweet beagle Sally passed way in 2023. In April 2024, we decided we would like to adopt a girl beagle puppy. Our senior cat Ben loved Sally, we thought a girl puppy was most likely to get along with Ben. We contacted Seattle Beagle Rescue and asked to adopt a puppy. Two weeks after our initial adoption interview phone call with SBR volunteer Kathryn, she called back advising there were two puppies in Nebraska that were taken from a puppy mill. At that time she could not tell us if the puppies were girls or boys or provide any information In order to get the puppies transported to Seattle, we had to agree to adopt a puppy sight unseen. The puppies would arrive in Seattle a few days later. We decided we would adopt one of them. On May 6th 2024 Tom met the van in Seattle with two SBR volunteers. When the puppies came out of the van, Tom was handed Sammy, a 12 week old, 9 pound 4 oz bouncing boy.

Sammy was a very rambunctious puppy, reminding us of the Tasmanian Devil from the Looney tunes cartoon. He climbed over the gates and even climbed over a 3’ tall play pen within a couple minutes of putting him in it. He was into everything, and terrorized our cat Ben any chance he got. Poor Ben hid behind the couch in the living room where Sammy could not go for months. We adopted our first beagle Sally at 8 months of age, she lived to 15 years old. We were used to her calm sweet demeanor and she loved Ben. Sammy is not at all like Sally. He is very vocal about everything and grumbles if he is not happy. He is still rambunctious at times, but is also very silly. While we wanted another girl, we are very happy Sammy is part of our family. Ben and Sammy made peace this last October when Ben decided he missed laying by the fire place. Sammy is now 2 years old, 32 pounds, over 15” at the shoulder, and is very long. He’s a big boy. Sammy’s second adoption day anniversary is May 6th,

Sammy follows Tom around all day long insisting on frequent tummy rubs and wants play time when Tom sits down to have a cup of coffee. He loves his morning walk, during which he is tormented by the bunnies and squirrels. He loves to follow Zita around in the yard after she gets home from work and share her seat with her in the evening. We have already planned our first big trip with Sammy down the Oregon coast in June. Ben and Sammy are getting along a lot better, they frequently are near each other, but Ben has no interest in playing with Sammy. It is amazing to see how far they have progressed. We believe with time they will become better friends.

Thank you Seattle Beagle Rescue for everything you do. Sammy is an important part of our life.

Every day is a Beagle Day!

Update! These girls have a place to go.

🐾 Double the Beagle, Double the Love! 🐾

Meet Boo and Coco — two beautiful bonded sisters hoping for a chance at a new beginning here in the Pacific Northwest. They have an opportunity to travel from the Midwest on transport the week of June 7, but right now they still need a place to land. ❤️

Sadly, we don’t currently have a foster home available for a pair, and we haven’t had applicants looking to adopt two dogs together. But bonded pairs are truly something special. They comfort each other, play together, nap together, and keep each other company when their humans are away. Watching their bond is pure sweetness.

Boo and Coco are:
🐶 Housetrained
🐶 Good on leash
🐶 Sweet companions
🐶 Looking for a home with no cats (they think chasing cats sounds fun!)

Our biggest wish is to keep these girls together where they belong. We are looking for either:
🏡 A foster home

https://beaglerescue.org/apply-to-foster-dog/

🏡 Or a foster-to-adopt home

https://beaglerescue.org/dog-adoption/

Can you open your heart and home to Boo and Coco so they can make their journey to Seattle? Helping bonded pairs stay together truly changes their lives. ❤️🐾
