Finally, we had the chance to sit down and talk with former Presidential Nominee Michael Dukakis about his time in politics, the era of May 4th, and the power that young people have to make a difference.

Next comes from the Ohio House Democrats, State House Minority Leader Emilia Sykes sharing her experiences with May 4th as a former Kent State student, and what this day means to her.

In continuing with what we began last year, on this May 4th we will be sharing videos from two speakers discussing May 4th, political engagement, and student activism. We also would like to take the opportunity to remember Alan Canfora, one of the students shot that day who passed away this last year. Alan was a committed activist throughout his life, and this year is lesser for his absence.
First off is a message from Akron Councilman and friend of the KSU Dems Shammas Malik on the importance of May 4th and the power found in student activism.

In our final video in our congressional series we welcome long time friend of the KSU Dems Aaron Paul Godfrey for Congress! Aaron is a scientist running for congress, who understand the struggles of regular working class people. His incumbent opponent is an out of touch Republican with practically no ties to the district whatsoever. Aaron will work to improve our healthcare access, reduce student loan debt, tackle climate change, and develop smart policy to deal with Godfrey. Vote Godfrey on or before November 3rd Ohio 16!

Next in our congressional candidate series is Joel Newby for Congress. He is running in Ohio's 15th against Steve Stivers who has been in congress nearly a decade. Ballotpedia describes Stivers as an "average Republican member of congress", which seems apt for an incumbent who has spend a decade passing literally a handful of bills (5). Joel Newby will fight for the working families of Ohio's 15th - vote Newby early, by mail, or on November 3rd!
