This Spring, the WV Army National Guard will supporting high schools in their efforts to have Military Appreciation Games.

We are all guilty of accidentally setting our alarm for 6:00 P.M. Instead of 6:00 A.M., causing us to be late for something...

Since the military is working around the clock, a 24 hour clock is used to avoid any confusion between day and night. We cannot afford to have our times mixed up. Our operations require specific timing and using a 24 hour clock helps us with that!

Before you head out to Basic Combat Training (BCT), you will attend the Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP) one weekend a month. These weekends serve as your initial exposure to BCT. This process, ensures your mental, physical, emotional, and administrative readiness as you prepare for BCT and your guard career. You also get paid for each weekend and eat for free. Katelyn joined the National Guard because she hs always had a desire to serve, but still loves her civilian lifestyle! Katelyn will go to Army Basic and follow that up with 91C School (Utilities Equipment Repairer). She will learn all about HVAC and learn valuable skills that will help her succeed in the civilian world!

SPLIT TRAINING OPTION-
This program lets you join the Guard before your Senior Year in High School!

Here’s how it works: You enlist while you’re still a junior (you must be 17 years old to enlist and have permission from a parent or guardian), finish that year and attend Basic Combat Training during the summer between your junior and senior years.

You’ll return to school for your senior year, during which you’ll train one weekend a month and get paid. The summer following graduation, you’ll attend Advanced Individual Training and train for your Guard job (your MOS), and start your life after high school above your peers! 🇺🇸
