Only after letting the pressure treated lumber dry can we paint or stain. The suspense in waiting is never fun but always rewarding. Especially when the client doesn’t have to call you back in a month due to paint failure.

Finished this beautiful basement remodel a couple weeks ago. If you’ve been following along then you’ve seen the process but if not please go look!

The flooring is rough cut poplar that has been sanded and finished, with a thin brick tile floor in the kitchen. We added more counter space by creating an L shape while also leaving room for the oven and in time also space to add a stove top next to it. The counter tops are 3 solid poplar slabs, two of them were cut to fit together to help create that 12” overhang for bar stools. The pieces that were cut off the slabs we later decided would be great as plate shelves over the sink. The pendant lights, new sink and hardware helped make the counter pop as well. Overall this was definitely a major upgrade to the prior in-law suit they had before. More importantly the clients were more in love with it than they could ever imagine.

Thin brick tile for the kitchen floor is done! Now just have to seal it, then we can move on to counter tops!
