If you’re new here, we’ve been sharing pieces of Dalene’s story as we prepare to serve her through our Both Hands project on August 8th.

When we asked Dalene what advice she would give to someone supporting a grieving person, her answer was simple: show up, listen and don’t feel like you have to fix the pain.

Grief does not follow a neat timeline. Sometimes the most meaningful thing you can do is sit with someone and let them talk, without trying to find the perfect thing to say.

Dalene also shared something that really matters: say the name of the person they lost. For her, hearing Mike’s name is a reminder that he was loved and is deeply missed.

That is part of why this Both Hands project is so special. It gives us a way to show up for Dalene in a practical, personal way and remind her that she is not walking this road alone.

There are still opportunities to serve with us on August 8 as we care for Dalene’s home while raising support for Unfaulted and young adults aging out of foster care.
