We Are the Music Makers is a new Choral Music Documentary celebrating the art of choral music, choral conducting and the career of one of its modern-day pioneers, Dr. Jerry Blackstone.

The film is not yet released, however, the filmmakers have provided an edited portion of it for Choral educators to access at this time. Follow the link for an 18-minute excerpt from the film that will educate and inspire reflection and ideas about the place and purpose of Choral Music and Choral Education in our ever-changing society.

We upheld tradition last night in Rochester with an Applebee’s dinner!

Hello all!

On behalf of ACDA, I invite you to come to our first SING Series Presentation of the semester TONIGHT Wednesday 02/19 at 8:00 pm in Room 118. This has been put together by first-year music performance major, Andrew Szmauz. He has titled his lecture Experimental Expressionism in Music. Andrew says, "In this presentation, we will take a look at shifting the view of polyphonic and monophonic instruments from tonal harmony to atonal percussive harmony. Music is a limitless form of expression. This presentation is designed to show how limitless the possibilities of your instrument can be when you stop looking at it from a point of 12-tone harmony, and begin to look at it from a point of limitless possibilities through semi tonal harmony, atonal percussive harmony, and digital tape loops". Andrew has requested if attendees would bring any random object that makes cool or interesting sounds like empty water bottles, chip bags, straws, paper, etc...

We encourage anyone to attend who wants to explore music-making whether you be a music major or not! Snacks and drinks will be provided as always! I hope to see many of you there!
