Here is a quick guide to help you monitor your brake fluid:

Perfect (New): The fluid is clear or light golden-yellow. At this stage, it has a high boiling point and provides the most responsive pedal feel for safe, sudden stops.

Middle of Life: The fluid turns amber or light brown. This means it has begun absorbing moisture from the air, which slowly lowers its effectiveness and can lead to internal rust if not flushed soon.

End of Life (Replace ASAP): The fluid is dark brown or black. This is a safety hazard; the high moisture content can cause your brakes to “fade” or fail under pressure, potentially leading to costly damage to your entire braking system.
