The plasma pen works by stimulating fibroblast cells in the dermal layer of your skin (just under the surface). These cells produce proteins called collagen and elastin that keep your skin tight and firm. As you age, your body produces less and less of these proteins, so the function of the plasma pen is to restart the production of both collagen and elastin.
