Looks like inflation just might be the most consistent thing in American history. Well, the Harry S. Truman Presidential and Library and Museum can’t bring back nickel loaves of bread, but we can do something that never gets old: Put you face-to-face with some of the most interesting and powerful artifacts, stories and moments that shaped this country. From a faithful recreation of Truman’s Oval Office to a corn cob encased in acrylic (you’ll have to see it to understand it), this is your chance to look history square in the eye, instead of just reading about it in a book. So plan your trip through time today. https://www.trumanlibraryinstitute.org/

250 years ago, our forefathers signed a document to build a new nation based on — as Harry S. Truman put it — “sensational proposals”: that all men are created equal, and that the purpose of government was to protect the unalienable rights of man to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It took courage and faith to declare a new idea of government, one not based on the divine right of kings, but on the will of the people.
That idea has not only succeeded — it has spread across the world, influencing countless people and nations in their own fight for independence.
Today, visitors to the museum became part of that story by adding their names to our Declaration of Independence mural, created by illustrator Kamilla Sims. They signed on as founders of America’s next 250 years.
Wishing you a Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

The Declaration of Independence is taking shape on our front plaza — one chalk stroke at a time! ✍️
Kansas-based illustrator Kamilla Sims is hard at work bringing this 21×36-foot interactive chalk mural to life ahead of tomorrow's Red White & TRU celebration. Once complete, it won't just be a work of art to admire — it'll be an invitation. Starting tomorrow, July 4, visitors of all ages can grab a piece of chalk and "sign on" as founders of America's next 250 years.
Swing by and watch the transformation happen today, then come back tomorrow to add your own signature to the mural and join us for a full day of free family celebration, live music, and more.
