Ahead of Glioblastoma Awareness Day, we honor the life and legacy of Chris Anthony with a message from Matt Anthony, Founder and President of the Head for the Cure Foundation:

“Head for the Cure was founded because of Chris—but it was never truly about Chris. That's exactly how he would have wanted it.

Chris faced glioblastoma with quiet courage, unwavering compassion, and a remarkable ability to give others hope—even as he walked his own journey. He showed us that our greatest strength is found in how we care for one another.

More than twenty years later, his spirit lives on in every Head for the Cure 5K, every patient and caregiver we embrace, every family we remember, and every step we take toward better treatments and, one day, a cure.

Chris inspired our first steps. Today, his legacy lives on in every step we take together.”

When Benjamin was in fifth grade, he was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a rare form of pediatric brain cancer. Over five years of treatment, he faced every challenge with remarkable courage—even volunteering for a groundbreaking clinical trial that continues to help children with cancer today.

"We race to honor the life he lived and remember all that Benjamin's courageous spirit taught us," says Team Captain Lucy Ambrose.
